Biography

Tony has a degree in Agricultural Economics from Southeast Missouri State University, he has been a Rotarian for more than 27 years, and is the father of Judith, Marcela and Valentina Medina. His wife is Nairoby Ramos, who is also a Rotarian, from the Rotary Club of Puerto Cortés.

Tony has done many community service projects concentrating his work on Water and Sanitation. He represented Rotarians from Latin America on the World Board of the Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group (WASH-RAG).

During the devastating impact of Hurricane Mitch in 1998, Tony was actively involved in coordinating donations, receiving over 50 containers shipped from Texas. This job positioned Tony as a great communicator and a good contact for projects with clubs from other countries.

In the trial period of the “Future Vision Plan” he managed to present the first project of the new system worldwide, with the GG25001 microcredit project.

With his participation in the World Convention in Salt Lake City, he was able to obtain funds for his club’s 3H project and also managed to develop a project to carry out 500 cataract operations with the support of PPRI Frank Devlyn.

During his participation in WASRAG, he managed to establish important contacts and promoted, together with Steve Werner, a study of the situation of the projects financed by TRF in the last 10 years in Honduras, research developed by DRI (Desert Research Institute) that has highlighted the sustainability of the investment of more than 10 million dollars from the Rotary Foundation with Water and Sanitation projects in Honduras.

He is currently the director of two Global Grant projects, one for US$250,000.00 for Microcredits to microentrepreneurs and the second for US$155,000.00 for the construction of a drinking water distribution system in the community of Milla 3. In addition to being part of the committee for the WinS Puerto Cortes Global Grant in the amount of US$55,000.
